Il Pingro

IL PINGRO is a young winemaker initiated by Chiara, Francesca, Giulia, and Margherita: four cousins moved by the desire to recover their 70-year-old family vineyards. At just 1 km away from the sea, on the coast of the Maremma Toscana (in the province of Grosseto), their vineyards grow on sandy and mineral soil, refreshed by the Maestral sea breeze. All processes are carried out by hand and they produce two wines, GR15652-white and GR15652-red.

In the middle of the field, their great-grandfather planted a pine tree, to provide him some shade during summer hot days. All alone in the field, this maritime pine grew in width, becoming a 'big pine': literally translated into Italian as 'pino grosso' – hence the name Pingrosso which then became Pingro.

These are wines that taste of the sea. The reference was the wine that the great-grandfather first and the grandfather afterward, were making for the extended family and friends. Il Pingro is proposing a simple 'vino del contadino', done simply but precisely. Both wines are 11% alcohol vol. meaning that both the red and the white are perfect for warm summer days.
